Head of Concerts SA, André Le Roux, was interviewed on the VOW FM Breakfast Show on behalf of iksafrica.com, the Concerts SA Project, and the Festival Enterprise Catalyst Project.
Voice of Wits (VOW FM), the campus radio station of the University of the Witwatersrand, is widely respected for its youth-driven programming, current affairs coverage, and focus on arts, culture, and social dialogue. The VOW Breakfast Show engages students and the broader public through discussions on campus issues, creative industries, and conversations with artists, cultural leaders, and changemakers.
The interview took place just prior to the Women in Live Music panel discussion held at Youngblood Gallery in Cape Town last year. The conversation focused on:
Strengthening touring circuits across South Africa
- Supporting independent venues
- Addressing geographic inequality in the live music sector
- Building sustainable festival and touring enterprise models
- Advancing women’s leadership and participation in live music ecosystems
The discussion highlighted the role of Concerts SA in developing sustainable touring networks and the importance of initiatives like the Festival Enterprise Catalyst Project in building resilience, equity, and long-term viability within South Africa’s live music landscape.
